Two of the most popular places that still allow smoking on casino floors are Las Vegas and Atlantic City, New Jersey. Of course, Las Vegas has far more casinos which means that it is still the ultimate gambling destination for smokers. 

Let&#;s take a look at the smoking laws in Las Vegas and which Vegas casinos continue to allow smoking. 

The Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act was originally passed in to control secondhand smoke exposure. It was then edited in and to further clarify the law.

In the broadest sense, this act banned smoking in most indoor public places and places of employment such as restaurants, movie theaters, arcades, malls, and more. 

However, there are some exceptions. Smoking is allowed in areas of casinos that don&#;t allow minors, smoking optional hotel rooms, age-restricted standalone bars that do not offer food, retail tobacco stores, strip clubs and brothels, and tobacco-related conventions. Though the law allows smoking in these specific establishments, each of them can enforce a no-smoking policy at their discretion. 

Under this state law, the term &#;smoking&#; refers to not just cigarettes but also all tobacco products, electronic cigarettes, and vaping products. 

Based on the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act, Las Vegas casinos can allow indoor smoking on the gaming floor. It is important to note that the vast majority of Las Vegas casinos permit smoking indoors, both on and off the Las Vegas Strip. 

Because there is a long list of casinos in the Las Vegas area and most of them allow smoking on the casino floor, there are a lot of options if you are looking to smoke while you try your hand at cards or slots. Here are just a few examples.

MGM Grand

MGM Grand doesn&#;t allow smoking in their rooms, but it is still allowed in the casino. 

Planet Hollywood Casino

Planet Hollywood has both smoking-optional guest rooms at their resort, and the entirety of their gaming floor allows smoking.

Caesars Palace

Caesars Palace has optional smoking rooms, and smoking is allowed in the casino, though there is a smoke-free zone. 

Downtown Grand Hotel and Casino

Though their guest rooms are % non-smoking, smoking is still permitted on their casino floor. 

Red Rock Casino

Red Rock allows smoking in their casino and bingo hall, though they have a non-smoking poker room and bingo area, so just ensure you are in the right place. 

Though there are few casinos that are completely non-smoking in Las Vegas, non-smokers can enjoy smoke-free areas on the casino floor in a few places. The Mirage, Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Red Rock, and Venetian all have nonsmoking areas on their gaming floor. 

Additionally, if you are looking for an experience with less smoke, many casinos have improved their ventilation systems so that the air quality is comfortable even with nearby smokers. In these establishments, gamblers can still find plenty of places to smoke while they play their favorite games. 

Recently Park MGM made the news because it became the first smoke-free casino. Others have followed suit, including NoMad Hotel and Casino. 

However, even though smoking is not permitted on the casino floor or anywhere else on the property, they have provided designated smoking areas for those who need them. 

For instance, at Park MGM, you can find a smoking section in the Ride Share Zone outside the main lobby, and the Central Park Terrace found on the second floor of the convention center. 

At NoMad Hotel, which is right next door to Park MGM, their smoking area is under the NoMad Porte Cochere, which is at the west entrance. 

If you are staying at a smoke-free casino, always ask the staff where smoking is allowed before you light up!  

Nevada was one of the initial states to legalize recreational marijuana, which means that dispensaries have popped up all over Las Vegas. There are some rules to its legalization, including that it must be consumed on private property. 

Despite being legalized in the state of Nevada, recreational marijuana is still federally illegal. Since it is still criminalized on a federal level, Las Vegas casinos, hotels, and resorts have taken a strict stance that it is not allowed to be consumed on their property even though casinos, hotels, and resorts are all private property. Therefore, smoking marijuana in Las Vegas casinos, including ones that allow tobacco, is prohibited.
